Summary

Description

The Trefoil (three-crossing) knot of knot theory, depicted in a symmetrical form, but without its usual visible three-fold structure (here there is two-fold rotational symmetry, fitting within a rectangle, but no three-fold symmetries, or anything approximating to three-fold symmetry).

To see that this is topologically equivalent to the more usual visual forms of the trefoil knot, look at image File:Trefoil-non-3-symm-flip demonstration.svg:

For a more symmetrical 3-D version of this, see File:One-Twist Trefoil.png .
