In mathematics, a jacket matrix is a square matrix A=(aij) of order n if its entries are non-zero and real, complex, or from a finite field, and

Hierarchy of matrix types
 AB=BA=In

where In is the identity matrix, and

 B=1n(aij−1)T.

where T denotes the transpose of the matrix.

In other words, the inverse of a jacket matrix is determined its element-wise or block-wise inverse. The definition above may also be expressed as:

∀u,v∈{1,2,…,n}:aiu,aiv≠0,∑i=1naiu−1aiv={n,u=v0,u≠v

The jacket matrix is a generalization of the Hadamard matrix,also it is a Diagonal block-wise inverse matrix.

Example 1.

A=[11111−22−112−2−11−1−11],:B=14[11111−1212−1112−12−11−1−11].

or more general

A=[abbab−cc−bbc−c−ba−b−ba],:B=14[1a1b1b1a1b−1c1c−1b1b1c−1c−1b1a−1b−1b1a],

Example 2.

𝐉=[I0000cs00−sc0000I], :𝐉𝐉T=𝐉T𝐉=𝐈
