A theorem of Jardine says that such presheaves form a [[simplicial model category]], where &amp;#039;&amp;#039;F&amp;#039;&amp;#039; →&amp;#039;&amp;#039;G&amp;#039;&amp;#039; is a weak equivalence if the induced map of [[homotopy sheaf|homotopy sheaves]] &amp;lt;math&amp;gt;\pi_* F \to \pi_* G&amp;lt;/math&amp;gt; is an isomorphism. A &amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;sheaf of spectra&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039; is then a fibrant/cofibrat object in that category.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
The notion is used to define, for example, a [[derived scheme]] in algebraic geometry.&lt;br /&gt;
