The observability Gramian for a linear time invariant system is given by&lt;br /&gt;

&amp;lt;math&amp;gt;W_o (t) = \int\limits_0^t e^{A^T \tau} C^T C e^{A \tau} d\tau&amp;lt;/math&amp;gt;&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
If and only if the matrix &amp;lt;math&amp;gt;W_o&amp;lt;/math&amp;gt; is [[nonsingular]] for every &amp;lt;math&amp;gt;t &amp;gt; 0&amp;lt;/math&amp;gt;, the pair &amp;lt;math&amp;gt;(A,C)&amp;lt;/math&amp;gt; is observable.&lt;br /&gt;
